How to Sew Fingerless Gloves?
Step 1: To sew the gloves you will first make the pattern by tracing around the palm, arm, and wrist on the sheet of paper.
Start from the top of knuckles and stop wherever you want on the arm.
Lift the arm away and start connecting the gap at the top of the pattern you trace by a straight line and the thumb with a curved line.
Step 2: Cut the pattern off by leaving a 1/2 inch gap allowance all around the pattern. This will help you in giving enough fabric seam allowance.
Step 3: Next, you will trace the pattern on the fabric by stacking two layers of fabric right sides together. Pin the pattern on the top and start tracing and flip it over for tracing the other glove in the same manner.
Step 4: Choose any fabric you like but a T-shirt material is an ideal pick as it won’t wear out.
Step 5: Now you will cut the tracing of the gloves making sure they are even. Here you don’t have to attach seam allowance as you already did in the original pattern.
Step 6: Pin the pieces together and start sewing them using a zigzag stitch of 1/4 inch seam allowance. In case your fabric is stretchy you can sew it by 1/2 inch of the seam allowance. Be careful with the top, bottom edges, and thumbholes as you don’t have to sew them.
Step 7: Hem the top and bottom edges by folding them down in a 1/2 inch. Pin them and start sewing the hems down.
Step 8: For the thumb holes, we would suggest you do them with the hand by folding the edges in 1/4 inches. Here you would use a running stitch. In case you have used a fleece material you can also skip this step.
Step 9: Turn the glove inside out and repeat the process for the other glove.

How to Knit Fingerless Gloves?
Step 1: To knit the fingerless gloves you need to cast 40 stitches by using the knitting needle of numbers 8 and 4 along with the color of yarn you desired.
The number of stitches may vary depending upon the length you required if you want short gloves to cast fewer stitches but don’t forget to leave a long tail.
Step 2: Start knitting every row until the gloves are broad enough to wrap around the palm. The maximum number of rows is 48 but it can increase or decrease depending upon the length you need.
The process will give you a stretchy and purl pattern on both sides. Make sure that you do not rotate between knitting and purling or else your glove will not stretch.
Here you will use seed stitch so that the material remains stretchable from both sides.
Step 3: Then you will cast off the stitches once your glove is broad enough to wrap around the palm. Cut the yarn keeping the long tail aside and then feed the tail through the last stitch. Tug on to it to tight the knot but don’t cut it off.
Step 4: Now you will fold the glove in half by bringing the cast on and off edges all together which is the side seam. Place the arm on the top of the glove and set the knuckles with the one top and narrow edges. Make sure to note the top and bottom of the thumb.
Step 5: Sew the top part towards the downside of the thumb using a whip stitch for about 2 inches.
Step 6: Once you’re done with the top part tie the tail off and weave the tailback up the seam towards the top edge.
Step 7: Sew the bottom edge of the seam using a whip stitch and stop when you reach the base of the thumb.
Step 8: Again tie the end of the tail off and weave in the end. Once you are done and satisfied repeat the process for the second glove without turning it inside out.
